Questa è un’ottima occasione per riascoltare il songbook di un cantautore scomparso troppo presto. Un disco doppio che è lo sbocco quasi naturale del festival Van Zandt che si tiene dal 2004 a Figino Serenza, vicino al lago di Como. Sono trentadue le tracce di altrettanti artisti che fanno parte della famiglia Appaloosa (o che sono strettamente imparentati con essa, presenti spesso sulle pagine di questo sito) sotto la guida di Andrea Parodi e Jono Manson. In pratica un tuffo nell’Americana con suoni rispettosi dell’originale ma al tempo stesso realizzati con stile attuale. Segnaliamo dal primo disco le versioni di White Freightiner Blues, To Live Is To Fly e Catfish Song, mentre dal secondo citiamo At My Window, Ain’t Leavin Your Love e Loretta. Infine la foto di copertina è opera di Ivan Graziani, scomparso lo stesso giorno di Van Zandt.
